Dr. Chae Jaynes
Associate Professor
Chae M. Jaynes, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the University of South Florida’s Department of Criminology – Tampa. She received her B.A. in Economics (2011) and M.S. in Criminal Justice (2013) from Michigan State University, and her PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland (2018). She has published over 30 articles in some of the field’s top journals. She applies quantitative methods to advance the understanding of labor market decisions within criminal justice contexts and improving reentry outcomes. Through her research, Dr. Jaynes seeks to provide meaningful policy implications and practical solutions to key criminological problems. To this end, she works collaboratively with students, colleagues, and community partners to improve the well-being of those who come into contact with the criminal justice system and society at-large. She is Co-Director of the Crime Research Etiology and Treatment Evaluation (CREATE) Lab and a member of the Center for Justice Research & Policy’s (CJRP) Leadership Team.
