Antavius Brown

Mr. Antavius Brown has helped co facilitate the Men’s Reentry Initiative (MRI) program as co facilitator at the Alvin S Glenn Detention Center in Columbia, SC. Mr. Brown is a returning citizen that has an impeccable reputation for helping the formerly incarcerated returning to the community by sharing his personal experiences. Mr. Brown has helped other men complete the MRI program and participated in MRI graduation ceremonies, helping to prepare MRI graduates for release with the mindset of not returning to jail or prison. Mr. Brown does this by continuing to share his personal experiences in hopes of helping others embrace a lifestyle that will empower and foster positive changes, build self, their community, and their families while incarcerated and upon release. He has remarkable talents in teaching life skills, and working with the MRI Director, Mr. Mark Sellers. Some of the topics that MR. Brown helps to facilitate through 12 weeks are: physical/mental health awareness, reducing HIV and STI infections, conflict resolution models, and examination of the causes of substance abuse, grief and loss solution charts, job training and mentorship.

Mr. Brown is employed with restaurant management and is a local celebrity in the music genre in South Carolina and neighboring southern states.
